Come visit Brazil´s first cocoa and chocolate farm
The Yreré farm is located along the Cachoeira river under the shade of the Atlantic rain forest of southern Bahia, just 11 kilometers outside of Ilhéus on the Jorge Amado highway (between Ilhéus and Itabuna). We are easily accessible by car and on public transportation by bus.
Besides cocoa and chocolate production, we also work with rural tourism, handmade rustic furniture, tropical flowers, decorative craftwork and patchwork. Over the past three years Yreré has received over 3,000 tourists from throughout the world.
We offer our visitors a unique experience stimulating all the senses (vision, taste, smell, touch and hearing). You will be surrounded by beautiful views, gorgeous flowers and plants, and will have a taste of traditional rural cuisine typical of the region. All this accompanied by the sounds of parrots and canaries native to this region. Your visit to Yreré will submerge you into the history of cocoa farming and will lead you on a journey to Brazil´s origins while giving you a taste of southern Bahia´s cuisine, providing you with a once in a lifetime experience.
A visit to Yreré lasts approximately two hours and can be scheduled during any day of the week. The visit is guided by the farm’s own rural workers and is hosted by the couple, Dadá and Gerson Marques.
